NEP is thrilled to announce that two of their innovative solutions are finalists for the IABM BaM Awards™ 2018. NEP's Mediabank MAM solution for Discovery's coverage of the 2018 Winter Olympics and NEP Australia's Andrews Hubs were both nominated for the awards, and have both been announced as finalists in their respective categories. The winners will be announced during the NAB show at a ceremony hosted by IABM on April 10, 2018.
NEP's Mediabank was nominated along with their client, Discovery, in the Project, Collaboration, Event or Alternative Product/Service category for the MAM solution they created for Discovery's coverage of the 2018 Winter Olympics. Having secured broadcasting rights for the 2018-2024 Olympics, Discovery realized the need for a totally new workflow. No broadcaster had rights of this scope before. NEP’s Mediabank cloud-based media management system proved to be the best tool to facilitate live MCR, ingest, craft editing of highlights, automated clip generation, storage of content, distribution of live content and clips, a signal hub, an audio matrix and 24/7 monitoring and support for 4,000 hours of Olympic content.
NEP Australia's Andrews Hubs initiative was nominated in the Produce category. In December 2017, NEP Australia delivered the world’s first live-to-air, uncompressed HD remote production using SMPTE 2110 through NEP’s new permanent centralized production facility, The Andrews Hub. Using state-of-the-art, all-IP facilities, NEP’s engineering team, cameramen, sound engineers and talent producers broadcast the Hyundai A-League match from Brisbane, while all program production staff, including the director, vision switcher, audio director, and graphics and replay operators, worked from the Andrews Hub Sydney control room, 932km away.
