NEP’s Media Services and Specialty Capture solutions recently supported sports and entertainment events including the MLB postseason and the World Series, NEP Norway's support of Norway’s trotting industry, and many other projects supported by NEP’s global production ecosystem. NEP at the 2024 World Series
NEP mobile units and specialty capture solutions made way to Los Angeles for Games 1 and 2 of the 2024 World Series.
NEP’s specialty capture support included: 10 Sony P50 Robotic Systems including mid-home, dugout and bullpen robotic cameras, low home HFR pan bar robos, 4 Phantom XMO Systems, 3 RF Dirtcams and 4 POV cameras.
The New York Times took a closer look at the important role specialty capture and media services played in this year’s World Series coverage.
“MLB ballparks present all sorts of unique challenges, maybe different than other sports.” Ryan Zander, MLB’s Senior Vice President of Broadcasting told the NYT. “Unlike let’s say, the NBA, where you can get very close to or get lenses very close to the action, we don’t really have that luxury because of large foul territories. Players are spread out. Every field has different dimensions. So it requires us to be innovative."
“Dirt Cam” Gives a New and Enhanced Perspective to Fans
Throughout the MLB postseason, NEP’s media services and specialty capture solutions were onsite supporting rights holders delivering October baseball action to fans everywhere. NEP’s ND1 and “Dirt cam” provided a unique perspective for fans around the world.
Sports Video Group detailed the technology and solutions on display in MLB postseason coverage, providing next-level views to fans everywhere.
“We spend lots of time with our vendors all season to find the best places for these camera systems, some work, and some don’t, but when we hit the postseason, we’re ready to deploy and show the world how amazing these players are,” Brad Cheney, VP, Field Operations and Engineering, Fox Sports tells SVG.
NEP Specialty Capture was among what SVG highlighted as “key vendors” supporting FOX during this year’s MLB postseason, giving audiences around the world an amplified experience.

NEP Norway Supports Trotting Industry with Innovative Production Ecosystem
SVG Europe Editorial Director George Bevir detailed the partnership between NEP Norway and Norsk Rikstoto, and how it has shaped innovations in production for Norway’s trotting industry.
NEP experts Terje Roijen-Hammer and Eirik Nakken along with Norsk Rikstoto Executive Producer Frode Martnes discussed the role NEP Norway plays in production from “cameras in the arena to distribution.”
“It’s all remote production,” NEP Norway’s Director of Technology Eirik Nakken explains to SVG Europe. “All the arenas are equipped with fixed installed equipment, which means that the crew just shows up in the arena and then starts using the equipment. We only travel OB units when it’s a larger production where we add more cameras.”
NEP continues to develop innovative solutions that amplify the audiences’ experience while continuing to keep staff low and maintain a successful production.
