As the summer comes to an end, we’re recapping the biggest events of the past few months, including the major global event in Paris, the start of pro football season in the U.S. and many other major productions supported by NEP’s global production ecosystem.

Entering a New Era of Production

Sports Video Group highlights the OBS Virtual Van Project opening a “New Era of Production” as production at the compound at Champ-de-Mars Arena in Paris was dependent on COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) servers rather than trucks or flypacks.

“When you need 70 galleries like we do, it is a problem to find enough trucks, and those trucks also have to be configured for the Olympics, which is much denser and more complex than a weekend event” OBS CTO, Sotiris Salamouris explains to SVG.

NEP experts also detailed to SVG how the OBS Virtual Van Project is opening a new age of production.

Geert Thoelen, Director of Technology, NEP Belgium and Dan Murphy, VP of Product Management, NEP Group Inc. detailed to SVG the platform developments of Total Facility Control (TFC) and how they maintain smooth operating systems

“This is software without the compromise and the whole concept is that the whole production team should not feel any different about what’s behind the scenes.”

Dan Murphy, NEP, VP of Product Management

The benefits? Density and scalability.

Following a 17-day major sporting event, Sports Video Group’s “Live From Paris 2024” series highlighted a fleet of NEP trucks comprising of NEP Caspian and Albiorix at “the core of operations” and how the broadcast shined for audiences stateside.

SVG’s Kristian Hernández explained how the use of OBS camera splits put a focus on American athletes and created a more U.S. focused story.

NEP's CEO Shares His Thoughts From Paris

As the world’s major sporting event kicked off this summer, NEP Group’s Chief Executive Officer Martin Stewart took to LinkedIn to share his thoughts and appreciation for the athletes and those who make things happen behind-the-scenes for audiences everywhere.

Martin began with his admiration for the games describing them as “the pinnacle of international sport and an amazing event to watch.”

Martin was a member of the Board of Directors in 2012 for the London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

“Behind the scenes, crew members from every part of the world will be working inside and outside of event venues to deliver the action you watch on your television or device. As head of NEP, I am proud to call many of these professionals my colleagues and friends.”
